Music

Everything the catalogue holds that makes audio which is not speech — 40 of them. Reading aloud is a different job and lives on its own list.

Beside every row is the fact a rate card cannot carry: what you may do with what it makes. In music that decides the purchase — a track you cannot sell is not cheaper than one you can, it is useless — and it sits on a terms page rather than a price page. 28 of 40 have had their terms read; the rest say so. 5 publish their weights, which is the one way to make music with nobody's terms attached at all: those are on the lists of what runs on your own machine.

Songs, with words and a voice 15

A description in, a finished song out — lyrics, a singer and the backing. This is the part of the market people actually buy, and it is sold by the month far more often than by the call, which is why a catalogue built on rate cards can miss it entirely.

Music, without a singer 20

Scores, beds and loops for putting under something else. The rate is usually per second of audio or per track, and the thing that decides the purchase is rarely the rate.

Sound, not music 5

A door, rain, an engine, a room tone. Bought by the clip, and short.
